Recently an independent article was published in the European Journal of Orthopaedic Surgery & Traumatology entitled, “A pilot study on the “ScoliBrace” in the treatment of adolescent idiopathic scoliosis”. The aim was to assess the effectiveness of a fully customized “ScoliBrace ” in the management of Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis (AIS) patients. Some of the main findings were:
> Significant improvement in 54.17% of patients by more than 6 degrees at 21 months of brace wear.
> 87% of the patients remained under the surgical threshold compared to 72% in the BrAIST study (2)*.
> Increased hours of brace wear were associated with greater patient results**.
> Median cobb angles reduced from 28.5 degrees at baseline to 22.5 degrees at 21 months.
> Median cobb angle was reduced from 29 degrees to 24 degrees at 6 month post-brace follow-up
