The Truth About Chiropractic
During Palmer Florida College of Chiropractic Homecoming March 14-16 Dr. Hartley spoke as part of the Chiropractic Philosophy Panel, as well as on Scoliosis Development and Diagnosis. He also participated in a human dissection course focused on the upper cervical spine including the brain stem, cranial nerves, Atlas (C1) and Axis (C2).
During the Chiropractic Philosophy Panel he shared this writing from the developer of Chiropractic Dr. BJ Palmer.
The Truth by BJ Palmer, the Developer of Chiropractic.
CHIROPRACTORS work with the subtle substance of the soul. We release the prisoned impulse, the tiny rivulet of force that emanates from the mind and flows over the nerves to the cells and stirs them into life.
We deal with the magic power that transforms common food into living, loving, thinking clay; that robes the earth with beauty, and hues and scents the flowers with the glory of the air.
In the dim, dark, distant long ago, when the sun first bowed to the morning star, this power spoke and there was life; it quickened the slime of the sea and the dust of the earth and drove the cell to union with its fellows in countless living forms.
Through eons of time it finned the fish and winged the bird and fanged the beast.
Endlessly it worked, evolving its forms until it produced the crowning glory of them all.
With tireless energy it blows the bubble of each individual life and then silently, relentlessly dissolves the form, and absorbs the spirit into itself again.
And yet you ask, Can Chiropractic cure appendicitis or the flu?
Have you more faith in a knife or a spoonful of medicine than in the Innate power that animates the internal living world?
The Truth by BJ Palmer
During his Scoliosis lecture he reviewed that Scoliosis occurs in 5% of adolescents and 60% of seniors, yet most Chiropractors lack a firm understanding of scoliosis developmental theories and evaluation. The two-hour presentation reviewed modern concepts of the development of scoliosis as well as means to diagnose and monitor scoliosis progression or reduction.
The goal of the presentation was to empower the Chiropractor with facts about the development and diagnosis of scoliosis which will remove fear of the unknown when dealing with these challenging yet rewarding cases. The Chiropractor walked away with an improved means of communicating and caring for the scoliosis patient leading to successful outcomes.
During the dissection class key structures of the upper neck considered the control center of the human body were identified.
