Scoliosis is a lateral curvature of the spine, and Sciatica is defined as pain caused by compression of a spinal nerve root in the lower back which cause pain in the back of the leg. This video touches on the relationship between the two. Because of the compression caused by Scoliosis, the Sciatic nerve can be put under pressure, leading to pain in the back, hip, outer side of the leg and back of the leg. When traditional orthopedic tests are normal in the presence of scoliosis, scoliosis symptoms are commonly improved by stabilizing and reducing the scoliosis.
