In their October 2022 Newsletter the Italian Scientific Institute (ISICO) published under “Debunking recurring myths” the question “Scoliosis can be prevented”. They stated, ” Since we don’t know exactly what causes most cases of scoliosis, we are not in a position to run tests and/or start therapies aimed at preventing it from occurring. There is no drug, no specific type of exercise, and no particular lifestyle choices that can prevent or delay its appearance. The best thing we can do is adopt a pro-active approach to scoliosis treatment once the condition has been diagnosed.”
I agree there is more unknown than known about the cause and onset of scoliosis. And little to no research has been done on therapies or lifestyle choices that prevent scoliosis.
My re-buttle would be that there are know biomechanical traits in scoliosis patients. And a spine showing less of these traits is functioning at a higher level and may be able to resist or reduce the coming storm of progressive scoliosis. As someone with Severe Scoliosis myself and a family history of Scoliosis, my life’s passion is to determine ways to maximize spinal health and prevent Scoliosis.
This video reviews some of traits seen in a Scoliotic Spine with the hope that improving pre-puberty spinal biomechanics Scoliosis will have less of an effect on the Early Onset and Adolescent Scoliosis Patient.
